No. 96. Nic Barker, Nutrition for Equines or Feeding Horses 101
Wednesday Apr 14, 2021
Wednesday Apr 14, 2021
Nic owns and runs Rockley Farm, where we specialize in equine lameness rehabilitation, particularly working with horses who have DDFT, collateral ligament, and navicular bone injuries. Since 2004 we have had several hundred horses come through the farm and we have a good success rate in returning horses to the same level of work or higher than before they were injured. Our own horses hunt over the rugged terrain of Exmoor and have hard-working, high performing hooves which I believe have helped to keep them sound over many years of high mileage work. I've written 2 books: "Feet First" and "Performance Hoof, Performance Horse" and have also presented numerous workshops in the UK, US, and New Zealand.

No. 75. Tracy Vroom, Cranialsacral Therapy for Horses
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
Wednesday Mar 10, 2021
There is a rhythm in the body that is separate from heart rate and respiration. This tide-like motion is called the craniosacral rhythm. The rhythm radiates throughout the body. It helps to move vital nutrients to the tissues and nerves of the body and protect them. It flows through the fascia. It is intricately linked with these beautiful connective tissue. It works within this system to assist the body in maintaining balanced communication. Craniosacral therapists use gentle palpation to find restrictions in the rhythm and by focusing on that area, restore balance. The work affects all systems of the body and how those components are working together. Our goal is to restore ease, fluidity, and communication in the body. When all the parts are working together to support the whole, balance and health are the results. The body has an amazing capacity to heal when allowed to do so. CST can help with so many things. Let's talk about its history, the practical application of the technique, and some case studies from my practice. It's been known to help maintain the body to prevent injuries, speed injury and post-op recovery, reduce and often eliminate head shaking, assist in behavioral and emotional challenges, and more.

No. 74. Diane Sept talking about Smooth Gaited Horses
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
Wednesday Feb 24, 2021
Western and rodeo disciplines were the main focus. In her sophomore year of high school, she got her Quarter Horse and her mother got 2 Tennessee Walking Horses……oh dear goodness! At the beginning, it was a bit of an embarrassment for Diane to be seen with her mother and her spotted up, strawberry roan TWH. Diane ended up doing gymkhana on that colorful TWH mare. Between Diane’s junior and senior year her whole “idea” of what her ideal horse would be shifted. One of her most pivotal life situations placed her in Big Arm, Montana with Pearl Tompkins and over 50 head of Tennessee Walking Horses. She fell in love with the breed… drawn in not only by their beauty and wonderful gait but mostly their amazing, kind personalities. Since that time Diane has served on national Boards of Directors both in the United States and Canada. She has been a sound horse advocate since the late ’70s. She holds 2 Gaited horse show licenses (her first license was with the Tennessee Walking Horse Breeders’ and Exhibitors’ Association). Both current licenses are with The Independent Judges’ Association (Friends of Sound Horses judges division) She is licensed both for open shows and is a Senior IJA Dressage Judge. She also held a 4-H judges license for years. Her commitment to supporting the Smooth Gaited Horse and community drives her to continued education and research. Diane owns Back To Basics Equine Awareness, Valley, Washington. She travels throughout the country and internationally sharing, teaching, and consulting about the WELLBEING for and the healthy FUNCTION of this amazing horse.

Saturday Feb 13, 2021
Saturday Feb 13, 2021
Deb, through her business Equine Self Expression, is a travelling clinician, teaching riding clinics, offering learning opportunities through several lecture series’, and training horses and students to understand and translate functional classical principles of working a horse from the inside out while observing old patterns within themselves. Deb’s series “Ground Work, to the In-Hand Dance ” which sequences into “The Emotional and Functional Platforms of Riding” invites students to work with deeper truths of movements, form and function as they relate to the emotional body and nervous system. Deb believes it is the balance of the mind, body and Spirit that allow for the deeper truth of riding in both horse and human. Deb and her partner John, have a training and equine educational facility outside of Indianapolis, Indiana where Deb offers more educational lectures, clinics and riding opportunities, as well as continuing to take horses in for training . Deb also has a small sanctuary in the Ozarks of Mo where she launches her wild horse treks from and offers equine retreats. That is also her haven for writing, and continuing to study and deepen her knowledge of equine neuro anatomy, physiology and equine emotional patterns.
